Western China’s 1st half-marathon charity run will start on the S. Ren Min Rd. in the morning of 14th Dec. 2013. This half-marathon is hosted by the Chengdu Hi-Tech Zone Government with Singapore-Sichuan Hi-Tech Innovation Park (SSCIP) as the title sponsor.
Besides the 21.0975Km half-marathon run, there are also 10km and 5km competitions. The public can sign up for the games starting from 18th Nov. 2013 both online and offline. The half-marathon will start from Raffles City Chengdu and end in SSCIP, while the 10km and 5km runs as well as the award ceremony will be held within SSCIP.
Many renowned marathon games in the world have the tradition of incorporating charity into the games; for Chengdu, the 2013 SSCIP Cup will be the first time that people running half-marathon for charity
According to the Chengdu Hi-Tech Zone, total prize of the 2013 SSCIP Cup, which estimated to exceed 100,000RMB, will all be donated to the poverty-stricken students affected by the Yan’an earthquake through the Children’s Hope Foundation. Charity bazaars will be held on the same day at both SSCIP and Raffles City with 20% of the income donated to the charity.
As the first large-scale hi-tech innovation park invested by Singapore in the Western China and a new town embracing industry, ecology, culture and humanity, SSCIP encourages charitable behaviors and healthy lifestyle, and wishes the 2013 SSCIP Cup could be a window for more people to know Chengdu.
