On 6 May 2014, Mr. Lim Swee Say, Minister for Prime Minister’s Office, Republic of Singapore, and Mr. Lawrence Wong, Minister for Culture, Community & Youth, and 2nd Minister for Communications & Information, Republic of Singapore, made their inaugural visit to SSCIP. More than a courtesy gesture, it was an intentional display of Singapore’s support for SSCIP. The ministers dined with potential investors and discussed how to solve problems they might encounter entering SSCIP. Mr. Lee and Mr. Wong then participated in SSCIP Biomedical Forum, a closed-door roundtable discussion on Sichuan’s biomedical development.
Top Sichuan officials, medical experts and entrepreneurs attended the forum, plus Mr. Martin Cui, CEO of SSCIP, and Mr. Chong Joon Woon, VP of Sembcorp Development Ltd. A lot of constructive suggestions were brought to the table-views on SSCIP’s biomedical industry strategies, Chengdu’s biomedical resources and development. The experts unanimously agreed with SSCIP’s plans and directions whilst offering some tweaks. The Singapore ministers shared about Singapore’s strategy in biomedical industry, talent grooming and investment promotion. It was certainly a productive meeting for all parties and it further strengthened SSCIP’s planning and investment promotion strategies.
