The SSCIP Cup 2014 Chengdu Hi-Tech Zone Half-Marathon Charity Run sponsored by Singapore-Sichuan Hi-Tech Innovation Park (SSCIP) kicked off on 29 Nov, attracting more than 2,000 local and overseas participants.
This is the third annual Half-Marathon Charity Run after two years of resounding success. It is organized by the Party Working Committee of Chengdu Hi-Tech Zone (CDHT) Management Committee and supported by Chengdu Hi-Tech Zone Working Board. There are three categories of competition this year-the Half-Marathon (21.0975km), the 10km Run and the SSCIP 5km Colour Run. The prize money of all the winners, a total of 100,000RMB, will be donated to the needy children of Yunnan Ludian Earthquake area and CDHT.
Ms. Feng Yaxi, Deputy Secretary of Chengdu CDHT Party Working Committee & Deputy Director of Management Committee, and Mr. Cui Wei, director and CEO of SSCIP Co., joined by 30 other leaders from City Labour Union, City Youth League, City Women’s Federation and private enterprises participated in the Leaders’ Kick-off Run. In the ceremony, Mr. Cui gave a speech and shared how promotion of social activities and healthy lifestyle is complementary to SSCIP, which is a model innovation park that seamlessly integrates industry, ecology and culture.
The highlight of this year’s event was the SSCIP Colourful Run. The concept of Color run has been reputed as the “world’s happiest 5km run” and as a result, the participants this year are not just professionals and seasoned runners. Many sports lovers and families, young and old, joined in the fun, celebrating health and passion at the same time. When participants, in their white shirts, ran past the colour stations, they were wildly splashed from head to toe, with myriad vibrant colours, inevitably bringing the entire carnival to a breathtaking climax.
Since 2013, the SSCIP Cup has received positive reviews. It became a model for charity sports events in Chengdu with close collaboration between enterprises, government and charity organizations such as the Children’s Hope Foundation.
This event is also supported by 20 other sponsors, such as Silkair, Yintai Center in99, Hong Leong Group, Singapore Tourism Board, Comfort Delgro, Watsons, Highland Spring, Adidas, Raffles City, NCS Group, Coca Cola, Fraser Hospitality and Jiajin Property.
