Investment promotion efforts for the Singapore-Sichuan Hi-Tech Innovation Park (SSCIP) have reached a peak in 2016. In just one week (June 20 - 25), SSCIP had hosted and participated in four investment promotion events for two targeted industries - biomedical sciences and interactive digital media. The events seek to promote Chengdu's rich resources and strong capabilities in these industries as well as SSCIP’s industry ecosystem to industry players from the US, Japan and China. These events further boost SSCIP’s awareness, while serving as a networking platform for both overseas and domestic enterprises.

Joint-Presentation by SSCIP and Chipscreen at 2016 BIO-FORUM in Shanghai
Organized by Modern Biotechnology & Pharmaceutical Industry Office of Shanghai Municipality, Bio-Forum 2016 was successfully held at Shanghai International Convention Center on June 21. This event attracted more than 600 industry professionals. Mr. Chong Joon Woon, Vice President (Investment Promotion) of Sembcorp Development, a vital shareholder of SSCIP, and Dr. Lu Xianping, CEO of Shenzhen Chipscreen Biosciences Co., Ltd, which is a key tenant in SSCIP, were invited to give a joint-presentation to share about SSCIP's biomedical ecosystem and the role of innovation park in establishing industry ecosystem to facilitate the development of its tenants. They affirmed that SSCIP’s efforts to build the biomedical ecosystem and supply chain was key to Chipscreen Biosciences’ decision to house their regional R&D center in SSCIP and further enhance their small molecule drug research capabilities.
Specialized in R&D of small molecule drugs, Shenzhen Chipscreen Biosciences Co., Ltd. is one of the first bio-pharmaceutical companies settled in SSCIP. The company has established several production lines of new drugs for treating diseases like tumor, metabolic diseases and immunological diseases. Chipscreen Biosciences is planning to build a R&D center and regional headquarters in SSCIP and the project would break ground by the end of this year.

SSCIP Investment Promotion Seminar 2016 for Japanese Enterprises in Shanghai
SSCIP’s first investment promotion seminar exclusive for Japanese companies was held in Shanghai on June 23. Co-organized with International Enterprise Singapore and supported by Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), the seminar attracted the interest of Japanese governmental institutions, consultant agencies and companies covering electronics, information technology, biomedical sciences, finance and new materials industries. Representatives from some 30 renowned enterprises like Mitsubishi, Omron, MISUMI and PKUTECH attended the event.

Welcome Dinner for Silicon Valley Innovation and Entrepreneurship Forum (SVIEF) in Chengdu
On June 23, SSCIP hosted a welcome dinner for the SVIEF delegation from Silicon Valley at SSCIP Investment Promotion Center. Mr. Chong Joon Woon, Vice President (Investment Promotion) of Sembcorp Development ticked off the event with an opening address. Mr. Edwin Goh, Manager of Investment Promotion, delivered a keynote speech introducing Chengdu's IT industry and its environment for innovation and entrepreneurship, as well as SSCIP advantages.
All the 60 SVIEF delegates were coming to Chengdu to attend the 2016 Chengdu Global Innovation and Entrepreneurship Fair, including Dr. Arthur McDonald, 2015 Nobel Prize winner in physics, Dr. Steve Hoffman, founder of Founders Space (top American incubation specialist) and distinguished founders of 40 innovative and entrepreneurial enterprises from Silicon Valley. In addition, 15 executives from local IT enterprises and Chengdu branch of international or Singaporean enterprises, such as 2K, Ubisoft and EMC also participated in the event. SSCIP has become an exchange platform for overseas and local enterprises.

Panel Discussion in the 2016 Chengdu Global Innovation and Entrepreneurship Fair in Chengdu
2016 Chengdu Global Innovation and Entrepreneurship Fair was launched in Chengdu from 24 - 26 June. The event attracted 3 Nobel Prize winners, 10 academicians from the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering, 20 presidents from top local and foreign universities, 30 mayors, and 300 business elites, founders of venture capitals and incubators. They shared about the latest research and development of molecules and cytology, new-generation IT, gravitational wave, and successful experience in urban transformation and industrial upgrading.
As a key event of the 2016 Chengdu Global Innovation and Entrepreneurship Fair, the section held by SVIEF was "International Cooperation and Development from an Innovative Perspective". Mr. Chong Joon Woon was invited to attend the panel discussion and had a fruitful discussion with other panelists such as Dr. Steve Hoffman, the founder of Founders Space at the Sino-America Incubator Venture Capital Forum. Mr. Chong also emphasized SSCIP's strategies and advantages in establishing industrial ecosystem to over 300 attendees of the forum.
