Singapore-Sichuan Hi-Tech Innovation Park Welcomes the Full Operation of Hongxing Road South Extension and South Extension of Metro Line 1

On June 30, Zhonghe Old Town Section Tunnel, the under-crossing section of Hongxing Road South Extension, was officially open to traffic. This marked the completion of the entire main road of Chengdu Hongxing Road South Extension. The total length of the Chengdu Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone (CDHT) section is about 12.5 km. Extending from the Third Ring Road in the North to the border of CDHT and Shuangliu County in the South, the CDHT section of Hongxing Road South Extension became another traffic artery of south Chengdu. This road serves as the main traffic axis of south Chengdu to integrate the area with Chengdu downtown and also boosts its development. The operation of the road also facilities the traffic between Singapore-Sichuan Hi-Tech Innovation Park (SSCIP) and Chengdu downtown. Now, it takes only 15 minutes to drive from South Second Ring Road to SSCIP via Hongxing Road South Extension. As an urban expressway, the SSCIP Section of Hongxing Road South Extension (please refer to the map below for the specific position) is about 2.7 km long and 60 meters wide (the main line and side road are both bidirectional, with six and four lanes respectively). The green belts on each side of the road are 20-30 meters wide. The SSCIP Section of Hongxing Road South Extension incorporates traffic function, design features and cultural elements. This road section was open to traffic last year and is currently undergoing landscaping improvements.

In terms of metro traffic, Phase II of the South Extension of Chengdu Metro Line 1 is expected to be open to traffic at the end of July. Two stations, namely Sihe and Guangdu, are just next to SSCIP. The opening of this extension will enhance the seamless connection between SSCIP and Chengdu downtown, promote the development of South Chengdu and bring more convenience to the future residents and talent in the Park. Meanwhile, Metro Line 6, which is currently in the planning stage, will also run across the Park.
