Singapore Sichuan Hi-Tech Innovation Park (SSCIP) established California presence on 1st September 2014 to strengthen its investment promotion efforts for the United States market. Former staff member from Singapore Economic Development Board joins team of ex-colleagues to sharpen the industry development focus for the SSCIP project in Chengdu and introduce the opportunity to key companies in United States.
The California presence is SSCIP’s second overseas presence after Singapore, as well as SSCIP’s first effort outside of the Asia-Pacific region. Its primary focus is to attract leading international companies headquartered in the United States, especially those in key industries such as the biomedical sciences and next-generation information technology sectors. It will liaise with the Chengdu office (which focuses on promotion in China) and work together to promote SSCIP to foreign investors across the globe. Two rounds of investment promotion trips have already been organized to California and New Jersey, where more than 20 target enterprises have been visited and close to 100 companies engaged. Positive working relations with a number of influential industrial associations have also been fostered. In future, SSCIP will use the California connection to launch promotional activities across the whole of North America.
The California personnel will deploy various channels to showcase the competitive advantages and resources of Chengdu in SSCIP’s five key industries (Biomedical Sciences, Interactive Digital Media, Environmental Technologies, High-End Manufacturing and Assembly, and Producer Services). Focus will also be to increase awareness of SSCIP, extend collaboration with target enterprises and enhance the overall the overseas investment promotion efforts.
