Stars Chengdu took place from 10-15 April 2016 under the banner "China and the World - The Decisive Years". On 11 April 2016, a delegation of 55 high-profile executives from all over the world lead by Dr. Toni Sch?nenberger, Executive Chairman of stars, Member of the Board of UBS Wolfsberg, Ermatingen, Switzerland visited Singapore-Sichuan Hi-Tech Innovation Park (SSCIP).
Mr. Chong Joon Woon, Vice President, Investment Promotion, Sembcorp Development, a vital Singapore shareholder of SSCIP gave a presentation themed “Harnessing the Synergies of Singapore, Chengdu and the Rest of West China”. He introduced the pro-business and livable environment of Chengdu, the industrial ecosystem in Chengdu High-tech Zone (CDHT), followed by an introduction of the catalytic platform SSCIP is building for biomedical sciences and Interactive digital media companies. He emphasized SSCIP’s strength in strategic location, masterplanning, and industry positioning and investment promotion achievements. The participants from business, science, politics, culture, NGO's and media were impressed by the planning and development of SSCIP.
The mission of the stars symposia and related alumni activities is to help prepare proven "Leaders of the Next Generation" for their global leadership roles. Stars chose Chengdu for the site of their China symposium because of the outstanding performance of Chengdu and its unique role in China’s "Go West" Strategy. Besides visiting SSCIP, the delegates also visited renowned IT companies and Tianfu Software Park - Chinese Silicon Valley in Chengdu during the four days program.

The stars foundation is neutral, independent, not-for-profit organization registered in Switzerland. They have over 1200 alumni from over 80 countries (2015). The vision of stars is to develop better leaders of the next generation and wants to be the premier platform for these future leaders. Stars held symposia in Switzerland, Singapore and China every year. The participants are exclusive circle of approx. 100, nominated by their Chairman, CEO or other outstanding individuals, mainly from business but also from science, politics, culture, NGOs and the media, with a proven track record, typically one or two levels below the C-level, having the clear potential to move up, and usually between 35 to 45 years old. Stars also held study tours to China, Japan, Mongolia and Indonesia.
